Trädgård
An Award Winning Country Garden
Development of this sixteen acre property began in 1992. there are specimen trees, roses, (mainly English), perennials and shrubs in a seven acre informal park-like garden, and a five acre special purposes timber block. Tradgard

A variety of ducks inhabit the ponds and older varieties of chooks and pigeons complete the bird life. Group planting and colour co-ordination are the plan, but nature has ways of often changing this.
The garden has twice received a first in the local district garden awards and is the preferred garden and home tour for visiting overseas cruise ships.

Development began at the end of 1992 when many trees were planted and the first gardens were dug.

In 1993 the house was completed and all the gardens and trees around the house planted.

The first pond "the long pond" was dug in 1993 and the second "the round pond" in 1996.

The wood lot of 2,000 trees were planted in the winter of 1994 and will eventually be thinned to around 400 timber trees - there is to be a walking path through the trees.

To date more than 500 roses and many flowering shrubs and perennials have been planted.

Tradgard (which means Tree garden in Swedish) is an ongoing garden - new development is constantly underway. In our ponds we have several varieties of ducks and in the chook enclosure you will see several varieties of fowl.

Dorothy has been a quilter since 1975 and in our home we live with over 50 quilts, many made with fabrics gathered on trips to New England, USA. We are happy to open our home to groups by appointment to promote living and decorating with quilts. Visitors come from afar as much to view Dorothy's quilts as for the garden.

  • For morning and afternoon teas, lunches and a tour of "Decorating with quilts" by appointment please.
  • Quilt projects large and small for sale.
  • Picnics and children (supervised) welcome.
  • No dogs please.

Enjoy your visit, we are so glad to share our garden with you.
